From North of Ripon or entering Ripon from North of the River (having come through Sharow) you should use the bypass travelling over the River, then straight over the next roundabout. At the next roundabout turn right (left is signposted Boroughbridge and would take you past the race course). Travel alongside the canal towards the town until you reach another roundabout where you need to go straight on into Water Skellgate (signposted Pateley Bridge). At the next traffic lights turn left into Low Skellgate. This narrow road passes Quick Fit, bends to the left, crosses the river Skell , bends a bit right and then you are on Harrogate Road proper. Carry on along there for almost a mile – passing the former David’s Garage and the turning to Whitcliffe Lane and the Choir School. The Methodist Church is on the left on the corner of Harewood Road. If you reach traffic lights other than pedestrian crossings you’ve gone too far!

From the East (from the Boroughbridge direction – having crossed the river and passed the race course you will come to the roundabout on the ring road – continue straight over and then pick up the directions as above from where the road travels alongside the Canal.

From the West from Masham, Tanfield and North Stainley direction, you arrive in Ripon at the clock tower. Turn right towards the town. Once in the Market Square aim for the far left hand corner (Fads and the Unicorn Hotel and drop down Duck Hill. Turn right at the bottom along Water Skellgate and pick up the direction as above from there.

From the West along the Pateley Bridge Road (Fountains Abbey etc), at the mini roundabout as you begin to enter Ripon bear right onto Mallory Park Drive and continue to the end and turn right at the traffic lights into Low Skellgate. Now follow the directions above.

From the West along the Kirby Road, at Holy Trinity Church turn left, along the Spa Park, and then right at the end passing the Spa Hotel. Turn right down past the hospital and then left at the bottom. At the light turn right into Low Skellgate – then continue as above.

From the South (Harrogate direction) you enter Ripon at the roundabout at the South end of the ring road at Quarry Moor, with MacDonalds and an Esso garage straight ahead. Go straight on and this is the Harrogate Road. Continue straight on past Morrisons (on the right), then Moorside Junior school (on the left) and watch out for the Church on your right, on the corner of Harewood Road.
